AUTO PAN
The PMS Auto Pan No. 865 is a rare, vintage analog effects pedal manufactured in Japan during the mid-1970s by Maxon. Often identified as an early Maxon creation, it was also marketed under the Ibanez brand as the Stereo Box and rebadged for other distributors. This pedal is primarily designed as a stereo panner, featuring a single Speed knob that controls the rate of the signal movement between two outputs. Technically, the unit is built with high-quality vintage components, including a Texas Instruments SN72588P op-amp, which contributes to its warm and organic tonal character. When used in a mono setup with a single output, the pedal functions effectively as a classic tremolo. Housed in a durable "narrow-box" metal enclosure with a distinctive red finish, the Auto Pan No. 865 is highly sought after by collectors for its simplicity, build quality, and its historical status as a precursor to the more common Ibanez-branded effects.
