DTE-1 Reel Echo

Capture the warm, wobbly charm of vintage tape echo with the Danelectro Reel Echo. This compact desktop unit faithfully recreates the sound and feel of those iconic '50s tape delay units, without the hassle of maintaining a temperamental tape mechanism. The Reel Echo's secret is its Tape Simulator circuit, which perfectly emulates the lush, lo-fi modulation of magnetic tape. Dial in up to 1.5 seconds of delay time, then use the Warble switch to introduce subtle pitch fluctuations that mimic the natural drift of a spinning tape reel. The Tube/Solid State toggle lets you choose between the warm, rounded tones of tube-driven echo or the sharper, more defined response of solid-state circuitry. As the repeats build, the Lo-Fi control progressively filters out high-end, just like a well-worn tape machine. And with the ingenious Sound on Sound feature, you can layer new parts over the existing delay signal - perfect for building up atmospheric pads or hypnotic, looping rhythms. The Reel Echo's retro-cool styling is a nod to the golden age of tape echo, but this modern pedal is built to last. Legendary guitarist J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. has been spotted using a Reel Echo to add lush, organic texture to his shoegazey riffs. Capture the spirit of the past, with all the reliability of the present.
