The Muir Audio Design Silicon Steel Distortion is a multi-layered, full-range harmonic distortion pedal that is transformer-coupled and hand-built in the U.K. This new product is celebrated for its unique, creamy, and dynamic tone. The core of the pedal features a transformer gain stage driven by two cascaded gain/harmonic clipping stages, all feeding into an audio transformer. This configuration provides distinct color and dynamic character to the sound. It includes a powerful, custom-designed 2-band boost/cut EQ (Bass and Treble), offering deceptively versatile tone shaping for dialing in treble boost, mid focus, or scooped tones easily. The design of the input stage, clipping circuits, and transformer setup is unique, ensuring a bespoke signature tone and dynamic response. It requires a standard 9V DC adapter.
