MX-118 Analog Delay
The MXR MX-118 Analog Delay is a legendary vintage effects pedal released in 1976 and manufactured in the USA. Renowned as a "godfather" of analog delay, it served as the original blueprint for the modern Carbon Copy. Housed in a signature large green "big-box" enclosure, it is celebrated for its thick, murky, and organic repeats that perfectly complement genres like shoegaze, dreampop, and new wave. The pedal features a straightforward three-knob interface controlling Delay Time, Mix, and Regen (feedback). It delivers a delay range from 20ms to 300ms, making it ideal for lush slapback and washy textures. Internally, the circuit utilizes rare Reticon bucket-brigade device (BBD) chips, such as the SAD1024 or R5101, which contribute to its warm, lo-fi character and high-end roll-off. Powered by an integrated AC cord, the MX-118 is prized by collectors for its exceptional headroom and ability to process dirt pedals without sounding strident.
