Over Drive

The Nadine's Over Drive is an extremely rare, vintage guitar effects pedal manufactured in Japan during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was commissioned by the legendary Nadine's Music store in Hollywood, California, with reports suggesting that only about 200 units were ever produced. This obscurity has earned it a "holy grail" status among collectors of rare Japanese gear. Technically, the pedal is built around the Panasonic AN6552 op-amp, a component often associated with the warm, musical saturation of that era. Its circuit is designed to authentically simulate the natural breakup of a tube amplifier run at full volume, offering a thick, muscular distortion with a characteristic slight mid-range hump. While it shares some sonic DNA with early Ibanez and Maxon units, it is noted for having a smoother high-end response. Its legacy continues today through the Danelectro FAB Overdrive, which is widely considered to be a modern, affordable clone of this elusive circuit.
