Sexdrive
The Durham Electronics Sex Drive is a premium, hand-built pedal celebrated as an ultra-transparent clean boost. Originally designed for Charlie Sexton, its goal was to provide additional bottom end and sustain without altering the guitar's natural tone or introducing a "nasal" quality. It uses high-quality JFET transistors to deliver a clear, hi-fi sound that is often described as an "always-on" tone enhancement. The control set includes Volume, Gain, and Tone knobs for precise sonic shaping. A unique 3-way toggle switch selects between off, soft, and hard compression settings, which add sustain and help control the signal, particularly at higher gain settings. While primarily a boost, increasing the Gain can push it into light to moderate overdrive territory, making it versatile for various playing styles. The pedal features a highly-regarded line buffer instead of True Bypass, ensuring signal integrity over long cable runs.
